This Monday, the 9th, it was confirmed that, after four years, the series “Chaves” and “Chapolin”, created by Roberto Gomez Bolañoswill return to open TV in the United States, being broadcast by the UniMás channel from September 23.
In Brazil, according to information released by F5, from Folha de S.Paulo, SBT, the broadcaster that was responsible for broadcasting the works on the small screens of thousands of Brazilians for years, is reportedly in negotiations with the copyright holders of both productions, so that they return to Latin American programming.
While the return of “Chaves” to Brazil has yet to happen, RECREIO has selected 5 episodes of the Mexican series most loved by Brazilians for you to relive. Check it out!
1. The Village Thief
In addition to making us laugh a lot, “Chaves” also had some exciting episodes, such as “The Village Thief”. In it, the villagers unjustly accuse Chaves of stealing an iron, forcing the boy to leave, with everyone calling him a “thief”.
Eventually, the villagers end up regretting the situation, and accept Chaves back into the village, where he reveals to them that, at that time, he never prayed for the criminal to be found, but rather for the real thief to regret what he did, and find a new path.
2. Good Neighbor Festival
Composed of four episodes, “Festival da Boa Vizinhança” has several iconic and extremely funny moments, mainly related to the children’s presentations to the adults.
One of the most remembered by the public is that of Quico, who decides to recite a poem for his mother, Dona Florinda. While performing, he would often be interrupted by Chaves and Chiquinha who, after the phrase “dear mother, my heart beats for you”, would always complement the poem with funny rhymes, including “like an avocado pit”, “like a shoeshine cloth” and “like a pliers tooth”.
3. The Witch’s House
The house of Dona Clotilde, the Witch of 71, is completely unforgettable for any fan. The character’s residence was “revealed” for the first time in 1975, in the episode “The Witch’s House”.
In it, Chaves, Quico and Chiquinha imagine what Dona Clotilde’s house must be like, designing it as if it were a real witch’s hideout, complete with enchanted brooms, a book of recipes for magic and a large cauldron for preparing potions.
4. The Village Ghost
In “The Village Ghost”, Seu Barriga decides to play a prank on Chaves, who always welcomes him into the village when he goes to collect the rent with a beating. In this way, he fakes his own death and tries to scare the boy by dressing up as a ghost.
What he didn’t expect was that his plan would end up going wrong thanks to the villagers themselves. This is because, before he arrived, they had already been scared by Professor Girafales who was trying to surprise Dona Florinda, but ended up being mistaken for a ghost.
5. Let’s All Go to Acapulco
Years may pass, but the episodes in which the characters plan a trip to Acapulco will always be some of the most beloved by fans. They feature some of the most memorable moments of the series, such as the fights in the pool, Chaves having problems with the revolving door, and the emotional scene in which the song “Boa Noite Vizinhança” plays.
