The diversity of nationalities in K-pop is quite wide, including several Thai idols who make up both boygroups and girlgroups; check it out!
Anyone who believes that the K-pop industry is dominated exclusively by Korean idols is mistaken. In reality, the diversity of nationalities, especially Asians, is quite broad in both boy groups and girl groups, meaning that current Korean pop takes into account the talent of artists, regardless of the country where they were born.
With that in mind, RECREIO has put together a list of 5 Thai idols for you to discover; check it out below!
1. BamBam from GOT7
BamBam is a singer, dancer and rapper in the boy group GOT7, formed by JYP Entertainment in 2014. During his pre-debut period, he trained for about three years at the agency, competing in various dance competitions and meeting Lisafrom BLACKPINK, in the process, who is also Thai and danced alongside the idol on the reality show “To Be Number One”.
The latest release of BamBam happened last August, as the solo mini-album “BAMESIS”; check out the MV for the title track “LAST PARADE”!
2. Lisa from BLACKPINK
Lisa was born in the Thai province of Buri Ram, taking over as the main rapper in BLACKPINK in 2016, the year of the girl group’s debut. In 2021, she released her first solo single-album “LALISA”, which earned more than 1 billion streams on Spotify with the track “MONEY”, and made her achieve worldwide success as a soloist.
Her most recent release is the single “NEW WOMAN”, a collaboration with Spanish singer Rosalia; listen and watch the MV!
3. Natty, from KISS OF LIFE
Natty was born in Thailand but lived in South Korea during her childhood. She participated in the reality shows “Sixteen” in 2015 and “Idol School” in 2017, both on the Mnet network. She later debuted as a soloist in 2020 with the album “Nineteen”, and joined the girl group KISS OF LIFE in 2023.

4. Nichkhun from 2PM
Nichkhun is a Thai/American singer and actor, who was born in California, in the United States, but has Thai parents. His success was due to the boy group 2PM, of which he is a member and which was also one of the most recognized among the second and third generations of K-pop.
His last release with the group was in 2021 with the Japanese album “WITH ME AGAIN”; Check out the video for the title track “僕とまた”!
5. Chiquita, from BABYMONSTER
Riracha Phondechaphiphatbetter known as Chiquitais a member of BABYMONSTER, debuting in 2023 under YG Entertainment. She trained for a year and nine months before debuting in the girl group, and alongside her group mate Pharit, being the second Thai idols to join the agency, followed by Lisaby BLACKPINK.
His most recent release with BABYMONSTER was last July, with the single “FOREVER”; check out the song’s MV!
