Formed by Aftermoon in 2017, the girl group only had their disbandment confirmed through a DM on Instagram sent by a fan; find out more!
The so-called “disband” in K-pop is something inevitable, but fans hope it doesn’t happen to their favorite groups any time soon. The separation of members can happen for several reasons, such as the end of contracts, low visibility, or even internal conflicts between the idols. And, in the case of smaller groups, the disband becomes something more likely, and is often even publicly omitted.
One of the cases of “omission” of a disband happened with the We Girlsa girl group formed by Aftermoon Entertainment in 2017, which only discovered its end of activities after a fan contacted one of the former members through a message on Instagram.
Initially, the group had eight idols, namely: Ellie, Nina, HaL, Hyeni, EunA, E.You, Yehana and Han JungA. However, soon after the release of the first single, Hal announced his departure from the group, followed by four more members between 2019 and 2020.
Later there was an announcement that Kimifrom Bulldok, From Hayoonformer member of ILUV, and Byeoljjifrom Midnight, were going to join We Girls to continue the girl group’s activities. But, soon after the news, the group’s social media went silent, leaving fans confused and worried about what could have happened.
It was only in March 2022 that Yehana officially announced the end of We Girls through a direct message on the app. Since then, each of the former members has followed a different path in the entertainment industry: E.You is acting as an actress, Hal is dedicated to producing live broadcasts in the “Broadcast Jockeys” format, Ellie is an independent artist, Han Jeong A became an active influencer on social media and Nina and Me in the are now part of the girl group Bunny.T.
In the case of Yehanaher solo debut happened right after the disbandment of We Girls, where she also joined a Christian group, called Love-L, which released its first album in January of this year. We Girls’ last release happened in September 2019 with the mini-album “Ride”; check out the video for the title track!
