IN VIDEO – After the Brazilian swimming phenomenon Gabrielzinho, another Paralympic athlete fascinates with his technique and his athletic feats.

After the Olympic Games, Paris has been living with the rhythm of the Paralympic Games since August 28. For sports enthusiasts, an opportunity is provided to discover the adaptation of objects to different disabilities, as well as the techniques of athletes to achieve sporting feats.

The latest example is undoubtedly Sheetal Devi. Since participating in the competition on August 29, the Indian archer’s dexterity and performances in the women’s individual archery events have created a buzz on social media. And for good reason, suffering from phocomelia, a rare birth defect that caused her to be born without arms, the 17-year-old uses her mouth and feet to hold a bow.

Impressive accuracy

Using his right foot, he places his arrow and stabilizes his bow. With his mouth, he fastens the rope to the hook on his shoulder and shoots arrows with impressive accuracy. So much so that by scoring 703 points out of a maximum of 720 points, the para-athlete surpassed the previous record of 698 points, thus qualifying for the mixed team events.

It should be noted that during the Asian Paralympic Games, which took place in Hangzhou (China) in 2022, Shetal Devi had already won two gold medals in mixed doubles and individual games. Thus, he became the first Paralympic archery champion without arms.
