In Switzerland, the Eurovision Song Contest was first held in 1956 in Lugano. The victory was won by the representative of this country, Liz Assia, with the song Refrain.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will take place in Basel, Switzerland. This is reported on the official page of the competition.
Participating countries will compete for the music championship on May 13, 15 and 17, 2025. It is also known that the performances will take place in St. Jakobshalle. The arena can accommodate up to 16 thousand spectators.
Organizers said the selection process took into account the venue’s capacity, local infrastructure and ability to host delegations, crews, fans and journalists from around the world.
“The EBU is delighted that Basel has been chosen as the host city of Eurovision 2025. The competition was born in Switzerland in Lugano in 1956 and it is wonderful that we are bringing it back almost 70 years later,” said chief executive Martin Østerdahl.
It was previously reported that Montenegro will return to Eurovision in 2025 after a two-year break.
