Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix revealed that the songs they performed in “Joker 2” were all recorded live on set; find out!
In a recent interview with Variety, Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix revealed that the songs performed by them in “Joker: Delirium à Dois” were recorded live on set with the support of a pianist:
It was important to me that we never sang the songs the way we normally do in a musical. We didn’t want vibrato and perfect notes. Instead, we stayed true to the moment and let the emotion guide us,” Phoenix said.
Already Lady Gaga concluded by expressing himself about the intimacy that music brings to people’s lives, focusing on Arthur Fleck and Harleen “Lee” Quinzell, characters that the actors will play in the sequel to the director’s film Todd Philips:
We asked ourselves, ‘What would it take to be real for two people to start singing in the middle of a conversation?’ ‘Where does the music come from when no one can hear it except the characters?’ Neither Arthur nor Lee are professional singers, and they shouldn’t sound like that unless it’s a fantasy. We wanted to help tell the story of their shared madness in a way that felt real. I think we all have an intimate and personal relationship with music, because there’s a score to our inner emotional lives. A score that no one can usually hear but us. That’s what we tried to capture for Arthur and Lee. The music inside them.”
“Joker: Delirium for Two” is scheduled to premiere on October 3. The first film is available on Max’s streaming service.
