Andy Harries, executive producer of “The Crown”, revealed that the British royal universe may return in the future; find out more!
In a recent interview with the BBC (via Deadline), Andy Harriesexecutive producer of “The Crown” and founder of Left Bank Pictures, the production company responsible for the series, revealed that the British royal universe could return in the future, even after its end with the sixth season in December 2023.
In the interview, Harries spoke about the production deal with Netflix, signed at the beginning of the rise of streaming. This agreement guaranteed that the series would keep its rights until the end, giving some possibilities and openings for future productions:
I can tell you it’s a very, very good deal and it gives us the opportunity to think about what we could do with The Crown at some point. Obviously it’s an endless topic. We could come back or we could continue. We’ve done six seasons, a very defined period of six decades, there’s a lot of potential, which at some point I suspect we’ll come back to.”
According to the official synopsis, “The Crown” is a series inspired by real events that portray the life of the Queen. Elizabeth II (played by actresses Verity Russell, Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton), and the political and personal events that shaped his reign. Since its premiere in 2016, the series has won several awards at major American ceremonies.
Among the most recent are the Critics’ Choice Awards and the Golden Globe Awards, where the actress Elizabeth Debicki received both awards in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of the princess Diana.
