Find out what information Disney confirmed about ‘Freaky Friday 2’, the first sequel to the 2003 plot
More than 20 years later, fans of “Freaky Friday” (2003) will be able to see Tess and Anna Coleman on the big screen again! That’s because Disney is producing the sequel to the plot that already has some details about the cast, plot, and release date revealed.

What’s the title?
During the D23 Expo, Disney’s main convention for announcing the label’s new releases, held on August 9 in Anaheim, California, in the United States, the official title of the new film was revealed: “Freakier Friday”.
Who’s in the cast?
Since the sequel was confirmed in the year the original production completed 20 years since its release, the actresses Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan were confirmed to return to the title to play Tess and Anna Coleman, respectively.
Besides them, Mark Harmon (Ryan), Chad Michael Murray (Jake), Christina Vidal Mitchell (Maddie), Haley Hudson (Peg), Lucille Soong (Pei-Pei’s mother), Stephen Tobolowsky (Mr. Elton Bates) and Rosalind Chao (Pei-Pei) are all set to reprise their characters.
New cast members include, Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever…) and Sophia Hammon (Under Wraps). With the exception of Hyacinthwho will play Anna Coleman’s husband, the roles of the new actors have not yet been released to the public.
What’s the plot?
The official synopsis for the feature film has not yet been released. However, in April of this year, Entertainment Weekly revealed that it had access to the script given to the actresses who applied for a new role in the plot, and in it, there were details about the plot.
According to EW, Anna is now a mother and has a daughter, Harper, a 14-year-old girl described as: “a tomboy with a sharp sense of humor who is in a bad mood because her mother, who has always raised her alone, is about to marry a famous French chef.” Mother and daughter should repeat the feat of the first film, as Harper will switch bodies with Anna.
However, this will not be the only change, since, with the union of the two families, Tess will play the role of another teenager: Lily, Anna’s stepdaughter, the daughter of the French chef. The four will face several challenges until they learn to live in harmony. Disney has not confirmed whether the information belongs to the official script.
When did recordings start?
“Freakier Friday” began production and filming on June 24. At the time, Lohan shared a video on Instagram where she and Curtis pose for photos outside their trailers. The post was accompanied by the caption: “We’re back!”. Remember!
When is the movie coming out?
The release date has not yet been confirmed by Disney. However, the studio revealed that the production should premiere in 2025.
