British band Coldplay has become the first act in the music industry to come close to breaking the $1 billion mark with a concert tour. Billboard reported it.
The group sold 8.8 million tickets for a total of $945.7 million, surpassing the previous record set by Sir Elton John. He earned $939 million from his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
U2, Guns N’ Roses and The Rolling Stones also made it into the top 5 artists with the highest grossing rock tours.
It should be noted that Coldplay’s previous tour, A Head Full of Dreams Tour, which took place in 2016-2017, was also included in the Top 10 most successful rock tours in history.
