Through an interview with Entertainment Weekly (via Omelete), the director Matt Reeves and the producer Dylan Clark said the franchise will be called “Batman Epic Crime Saga”, helping to differentiate the productions of both from those led by James Gunn, in the DCU.
So far, the “Batman Epic Crime Saga” universe includes the hero’s solo film released in 2022, the villain’s series “Penguin”, which premieres on HBO and Max on September 19, and also the sequel to “The Batman”. The actor Andy Serkiswho plays the butler Alfred Pennyworth in the film, has already commented during an interview with the PopVerse portal that filming will begin soon, in addition to giving a possible “spoiler” about the release date on the big screen:
Basically, I don’t know anything about the movie, other than I just found out that we’ll probably start shooting early next year. So if you do the math, [a estreia] It will be a year and a half after that.”
