ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin has exposed a 2021 email accusing Source Music of copying her new girl group’s creative ideas.
On Tuesday, the 23rd, the South Korean portal Dispatch published a long article containing new accusations against Min Hee JinCEO of ADOR. In response, the businesswoman issued a new statement, denying all the information, in addition to making new allegations.
In the statement, reported by the Koreaboo portal, Hee Jin reveals an email sent months before NewJeans’ debut to the CEO of HYBE, Park Ji Wondated 2021, where he details all his plans for the girl group, and claims that his creative ideas seemed to divide with those of Source Music.
The CEO Min points out that, initially, Source aimed for its new girl group to reach a male audience, and delve into the “growth of beautiful and powerful people”, while her group would go on “an adventure of finding the true self”, targeting a teenage audience.
Through the email sent to Park Ji Won, Min Hee Jin explains this situation, and accuses HYBE and Source Music of changing their initial plans to copy it.
“Even looking at the respective companies’ directions, in March, Source explained its direction as ‘the growth of beautiful people of power,’ and they recalibrated that in August as ‘an adventure to go and find your true self, the coming-of-age story of young girls,’ but it was hard for me to agree that this recalibration was an evolution of the plans set out in March. I think it’s much closer to the plans the CBO Office suggested in May.”
In CBO’s materials in May about ‘Teen Influencer,’ it was reflected that the group would be ‘friends of global teenagers, global influencers with an honest and free vibe.’ The content of CBO’s materials in May plans was about relating to and sympathizing with teenagers. Source Music’s materials in August also targeted females in their teens, appealing to them with looks that they wanted to copy. This is very different from the plans put forward in March by BigHit (and Source Music), where the target audience was male fans,” stated Hee Jin.
The case is still ongoing.
