Actor Eddie Murphy, who plays the character, revealed in an interview some news about the upcoming productions of the Shrek ogre franchise
The actor Eddie Murphywho voices Donkey in all of the ogre’s films Shrekfrom DreamWorks, revealed in an interview with the Collider portal some updates about the franchise’s next production, including a solo story for his own character:
Murphy also gave a possible release date for the next film, explaining that production centered on Donkey will begin after “Shrek 5” is completed:
“No, I’m not recording at the same time. I started recording Shrek, I think it will be released in 2025, and then we will do the Donkey movie.”
The franchise’s latest release, “Shrek Forever After,” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2010, marking a milestone as the first animated franchise to become a quadrilogy in cinema history. In addition, the film also grossed more than US$750 million at the worldwide box office, consolidating itself as DreamWorks’ second largest production in terms of international revenue.
