Saena, Sio and Aran were sued by ATTRAKT after officially leaving the FIFTY FIFTY lineup at the end of last year
In 2023, one of the biggest surprises for k-pop fans was the legal battle between the company ATTRAKT and the members of the girl group FIFTY FIFTY, Saena, Zion It is Aranshortly after her song “Cupid” went viral internationally.
With the dispute starting at the end of June after the idols requested the suspension of their contracts alleging a violation of the agreement, the situation continued for months, until the artists were officially free from the deal in October, with Keena being the only one to decide to stay at the agency and in training.
On December 19, ATTRAKT announced that it would be suing the former members, their parents and The Givers for compensation of damages and penalties for breach of exclusive contracts, for actively engaging in the unfair breach of exclusive contracts and for compensation for damage caused by joint illegal activities, asking for approximately ₩13.0 billion won (approximately US$9.41 million).
As reported by the Koreaboo portal, after the defendants responded to the complaints, the date for the first trial was finally set by the South Korean justice system: August 29th.
It is worth remembering that, despite Saena, Zion It is Aran having left the group, ATTRAKT decided not to disband the formation. Late last week, the agency announced that the ensemble will debut again in September as a five-member girl group, including Keena, who was part of the original lineup. So far, there is no information about the identities of the new members.
