Following reports in “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Children’s TV,” Kenan & Kel’s Kel Mitchell accuses Dan Schneider of hostile work environment
After several accusations of a hostile work environment declared in the documentary “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Children’s TV”, Dan Schneider was the target of yet another. This time, the actor from “All That” and “Kenan and Kel”, Kel Mitchellclaimed that the director of both series yelled at him in a closet on set when he was 18 or 19 years old.
The complaint came up during a chat on the podcast “Baby, This is Keke Palmer” (via Variety), where Mitchell said that after Schneider take on “All That”, “the vibe of the show started to change a little”, and that, one time, they ended up arguing, which was the moment when the director raised his voice with him:
They left us with the head writer, Dan Schneider. So he’s writing, and he and I kind of fell out a little bit,” Mitchell continued. “I remember Dan and I had a big argument on set. He said, ‘Let’s go to this room here, in this closet.’ He closed the door and just walked out, you know, yelling all these crazy things.”
It is worth remembering that “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Children’s TV” brought reports from actors who were in the cast of series such as “All That” and “Zoey 101”, as well as team members from other titles commanded by Dan Schneider to report inappropriate behavior by the director that had been kept secret for more than two decades.
