Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Ukrainian human rights activist Alexandra Matviychuk met with the Pope at the Vatican. He was given a book by a Ukrainian journalist and writer, as well as a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Stanislav Aseev, which was captured by pro-Russian militants. Matviychuk wrote about it on Facebook.
We are talking about the publication The Bright Path: the story of a concentration camp.
Aseev spent two years in the captivity of “DPR” terrorist militants in Izolyatsia prison, where people were tortured every day.
Using his experience as an example, Matviychuk explained to the Pope why the occupation was unacceptable for Ukraine.
“Since the beginning of the war in February 2014, we continue to document such stories, I personally interviewed more than a hundred people who went through the hell of captivity during the occupation. So I told the Vatican that the Ukrainians are working for peace , but peace is not work. the last version “occupation is another form of war.” – said Matviychuk.
