Celebrate Mother’s Day with some of the most inspiring moms in the world of animation
Here in Brazil, Mother’s Day is always celebrated on the second Sunday of May, following the decree made by the president Getulio Vargas in 1932. This year, the date is celebrated today, May 12th.
In the animations, we are also introduced to different types of mothers who, following their own characteristics, do everything for their children and family, just like real-life moms. With that in mind, RECREIO put together an incredible list of five inspiring cartoon mothers. Check out!
1. Marge Simpson (The Simpsons)
Mother of three, Marge is responsible for keeping the Simpsons’ chaotic house in order, as well as dealing with problems in a patient and sensible way, but always maintaining a good mood. With her iconic blue hair, she’s the one everyone turns to when they need something.
2. Helena Pêra/Elastigirl (The Incredibles)

With the arrival of children and the ban on superheroes, Helena, Elastigirl, dedicated her life to taking care of the little ones and helping them with her powers. When she finally returns to being a hero, in addition to carrying out missions to save the rest of society, she still always keeps her children as a priority, being extremely admired by everyone.
3. Sarabi (The Lion King)

Sarabi is the true definition of “mama lioness”. When Simba was still a cub, she always encouraged him to learn from his father how to be a good king and serve the kingdom worthily, and often showed affection and played with the little one. However, when it was necessary to keep a firm grip to scold the puppy, Sarabi did not hesitate and did so firmly.
4. Kala (Tarzan)

When little Tarzan’s parents pass away, Kala adopts the baby and raises him with all the love and affection in the world, just as if he had been born from her womb. Throughout his life, in addition to teaching him everything he knows, the gorilla also goes to great lengths to protect him whenever necessary.
5. Mrs. Jumbo (Dumbo)

Due to his large ears, Dumbo was bullied by other elephants for a long time, and always resorted to his mother’s lap. In addition to comforting her son and showering him with love and affection to make him feel better, Mrs. Jumbo also taught those who teased her puppy a great lesson.
