Taylor Swift’s new album breaks Spotify record

American singer Taylor Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, has broken records on Spotify. This was announced by the streaming platform itself.

In one day, for the first time in history, it collected more than 300 million streams. It surpassed the number of streams on the first day of the artist’s latest release, which collected 110 million streams on its premiere day.

“History has been made! On April 19, 2024, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department became the first album in Spotify history to receive over 300 million streams in a single day,” the post stated.

Also on its first day of release in the United States, Swift sold 1.4 million albums, surpassing Taylor’s Version’s 1.359 million in 1989. This is the most weekly record sales for a US musician in history.

Final figures for the first week of sales will be announced on Sunday, April 28th. The album is also expected to top the Billboard 200 chart.

Earlier it was reported that singer Taylor Swift entered the Forbes list of billionaires for the first time.
