Last Tuesday, 9th, one of DC Comics’ most iconic couples received the first official trailer for their live-action. We’re talking about Joker and Harley Quinn, who will have their romance explored in ‘Joker: Delirium in Two’, a film scheduled for release on October 3rd this year. Remember!
To bring to life the most dysfunctional and psychotic duo in comics, Lady Gaga was cast to play the character whose original name is Harleen Frances Quinzel, while Joaquin Phoenix will reprise the main role seen in “Joker”, a 2016 film.
In addition to the two, DC has several other notable couples in the comics. With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of 5 more unforgettable couples featured on the pages. Look:
1. Clark Kent and Lois Lane
This may be the oldest couple in DC Comics! That’s because Lois appeared in the first Superman story, ‘Actions Comics’ #1, released on April 18, 1938.
2. Batman and Catwoman
Batman appeared in the comic ‘Detective Comics’ #27, first published in 1939, the same comic in which Catwoman made her first appearance. Over the years and the different timelines that the characters have crossed, their destinies have always been intertwined, even though their relationship was always hanging by a thread, as their goals were in conflict when there was a chance to stay together.
Still, Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle, as they are known without their costumes, get married in the twelfth edition of the ‘Batman/Catwoman’ miniseries.
3. Green Arrow and Black Canary
Just like Batman and Catwoman, Green Arrow and Black Canary have ideological differences as their biggest challenge in staying together. Still, the couple that is one of DC’s most beloved also get married at some point in their stories.
4. Barry Allen and Iris West
Another long-standing couple in the comics is Barry Allen and Iris West’s Flash, as the two have had their stories told since the 1950s, going through all the stages of their relationship until they officially married.
Aquaman and Mera
Mera first appeared in 1963, in the comic #Aquaman #11 and was created by Jack Miller It is Nick Cardy. The character, who becomes Aquaman’s wife, is an important figure and partner of the hero in several adventures throughout his more than 60 years of creation, making it impossible not to remember the couple as one of the publisher’s most memorable.
