At the beginning of April, Disney fans were surprised with the release of the first image for “Moana 2”, a sequel to the film that tells the story of the Polynesian princess who loves exploring the sea, and which is scheduled for release on November 27, 2024 in the United States.

However, Moana is not the first in the “Disney Princesses” franchise to receive a sequel. Throughout history, other great characters also had the opportunity to have new adventures in new films. Find out which ones!

Jasmine was the first princess to receive a sequel to her film. In total, the “Aladdin” franchise has two more feature films: “Aladdin: The Return of Jafar”, released in 1994, where Jafar returns and seeks revenge against the protagonist, and “Aladdin and the 40 Thieves”, from 1996, in which he presents the planning of the wedding between Jasmine and Aladdin.

2. Pocahontas

The real-life Disney princess, Pocahontas, received a sequel in 1998, titled “Pocahontas 2: A Journey to the New World”. The plot follows the protagonist going to England for the first time, where she will need to decide whether she will remain in the new land, or return to her village. Just like the first film, the film is inspired by the story of Amonute.

3. Ariel

The second “Little Mermaid” film was released in 2000, with the title “The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea”. This time, the protagonist of the work is not Ariel, but her daughter, Melody, who does not know her mother’s mermaid lineage, and is forbidden by her parents to go to sea to protect her from Morgana, Ursula’s sister. It is also worth remembering that the franchise also has a prequel, “The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Story”, from 2008, which presents the protagonist’s story before the events of the first film.

The first, “Cinderella II: Dreams Come True”, arrived in 2002, and follows the protagonist alongside the Fairy Godmother discovering the best way to make her dreams come true. The second, “Cinderella 3: A Turn in Time”, was released in 2007, and shows Cinderella’s stepmother stealing the Fairy Godmother’s wand to go back in time, and change the events of the first film.
