Watches and Wonders Day 1: Pink at Chanel, Green at Chopard, Nature at Van Cleef & Arpels

April 9-15 live from the Clocks and Wonders show in Geneva, Madame Figaro shares his favorites, his surprises, and his discoveries. Here are the highlights from our first day.

In Mademoiselle Chanel’s atelier

The doors of Watches & Wonders, the world’s largest watch fair, have barely opened when Chanel Horlogerie is already grabbing all the attention thanks to the Couture O’Clock theme, a crafty journey into Mademoiselle’s atelier. Thus, the J12 Atelier Couture Automate Caliber 6 features a statuette and couture bust of Mademoiselle Chanel on the dial side. This wonder is complete with sophistication, an automatic that brings the scene to life with just the push of a button… as if you were there. Still a couture watch, the Première Ruban Couture watch is adorned with a black leather double strap, while the designer’s main tools, thimble, needle holders or bust, hang from the end of the necklaces, hiding the discreet dial. . Our favorite? Épingle Couture long necklace in yellow gold and diamonds. The 2024 vintage is also marked by a nod to Gabrielle Chanel’s favorite animal and the time of its astrological sign, Leo. Finally, the house makes us see life in pink by updating its icons, J12 and Boy.Friend, in the color of happiness. We find pink in Grand Seiko, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the 9R Spring Drive caliber with a Grand Seiko Heritage watch with a fine dial.

Miniature gardens

A bucolic atmosphere at Beauregard featuring Jardin d’hiver, an exclusive box of 6 Lili Bouton watches crafted in rose gold and embellished with hand-cut precious stones. Red Opal, Fanta Opal from Mexican Chiapas, Yellow Opal from Brazil, Australian Chrysoprase, Arizona Topaz or even Peruvian Amethyst…
A tribute to nature at Van Cleef & Arpels, where craft celebrates the freshness of a summer’s morning with Lady Arpels Brise d’Été. White and yellow gold butterflies, made of plique-à-jour enamel and showing the time, flutter on demand. Indeed, the modules of Complications Poétiques watches are designed for wonder. 2024 is not an exception to the rule. The Lady Arpels Jour Nuit watch, which appeared in 2008, has been reinvented with two new models, 33 and 38 mm in diameter. The moon and stars paved with diamonds take their course after the sun on the dial. Thanks to the 24-hour rotating disc, the dial turns almost imperceptibly to recreate the cycle of the day.

Swings around the green

Another strong symbolic color, green is Chopard’s focus. The LUC XPS Forest Green watch reveals a forest green watch with a 40mm case in Lucent Steel, an exceptionally durable steel. This COSC-certified model combines understated elegance with technical performance. Subtle green is also key to the Impériale watch, in ethical white gold enhanced by in-house craftsmanship. Like a song dedicated to great moments in imperial history, this diamond collection showcases pearl and enamel know-how on its dial. Another trend in 2024 Lightness in every sense of the word. Thus, the Alpine Eagle collection welcomes a flying chronograph whose case is constructed from grade 5 titanium, known for its light weight and extreme durability.
What would watchmaking be without technical problems? To delight enthusiasts, Pequiignet presents for the first time a tourbillon designed in its own factory, with components produced within an 80 km radius and assembled in the Morteau workshops… Cocorico!
