Recently released, the documentary “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” shocked everyone who spent their childhood watching Nickelodeon series, as it exposed the toxic and abusive environment behind the scenes of productions, which affected countless teen stars of the time, including Drake Bellstar of the iconic series “Drake and Josh” (2004 – 2007).

Our highest priorities are the well-being and best interests of not only our employees, cast and crew, but all children, and we have adopted numerous safeguards over the years to help ensure that we are meeting our own high standards and the expectations of our audience”, says the statement.
In a recent interview with the podcast “The Sarah Fraser Show”, the Drake criticized Nickelodeon’s statement about the documentary, which he said was a “pretty empty” response.
“There’s a very well-tailored response that says, ‘Learning about his trauma,’ because they couldn’t say they didn’t know about it or what had happened, or anything. So I think that was a very well-tailored response, probably from some big Hollywood lawyer.
I find their answers quite empty, because, I mean, they still show our shows, they still make our shows and I have to pay for my own therapy, I have to figure out what — I mean, if there was anything, if there was any truth behind them actually caring, there would be something more than quotes on a page obviously from a legal representative telling them exactly how to tailor a response,” the actor said on the podcast (via DitoCinema).
‘Drake and Josh’ was a teen series, created by Dan Schneider and broadcast on the Nickelodeon channel between 2004 and 2007.
