Representatives from 37 countries will participate in this year’s song competition. The Swedish city of Malmo will host them.
The Suspilne Kultura TV channel will for the first time show the finals of the national Eurovision selections for the eight other participating countries. This was reported on the official website of the TV channel.
In particular, Ukrainians can see Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Portugal, Finland, Spain and Italy. TV presenter Timur Miroshnichenko will comment on these programs. As for the broadcasts, they will start in mid-March and air every Saturday on the TV channel and the broadcaster’s website.
“We value cooperation with public broadcasters of other countries and we thank Finnish Yle, Spanish RTVE, Lithuanian LRT, Latvian LTV, Estonian ERR, Portuguese RTP, Italian Rai and German NDR for the opportunity to show Ukrainian viewers the final concerts, referring to the representatives of their countries in “Eurovision”, with a Ukrainian commentary. We hope that a closer acquaintance with the national selections of other European countries will allow the Ukrainians, on the one hand, to compare the approaches to the national selection and highlight the interesting elements of each final, and on the other hand, to become more familiar with a wide palette of current music,” said the head of Ukrainian delegation to Eurovision Oksana Skibinskaya.
Earlier it was reported that this year the duet Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil became the official representative of Ukraine at Eurovision.
