But what happens after the royal title holders get married in the final moments of their solo adventures? There are few who have the years after marriage explored in their stories, and even fewer are those who expand their families after making the commitment.
Still, a princess from the studio created by WaltIt is Roy Disney More than a hundred years ago, she achieved the feat of having her “happily ever after” unraveled in a sequence, where she even becomes the first and only mother who belongs to the Disney Princess franchise.
Who is the only Disney princess who is a mother?
First of all, it is necessary to reveal that Disney Princess has 13 princesses in total. They are: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida and Moana.
They received the title for different reasons, as Mickey’s House defines that to be a princess it is necessary to be part of an animation; be human or at least half human; be the protagonist of the story; being born a princess, marrying royalty or committing a heroic act and bringing a good financial return to the studios.
Among these, Moana and Merida are the only ones who do not have a romantic partner, and although Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Rapunzel and Mulan gained sequels or derivatives, only one of them was able to count on a new member in her family.
The princess in question is Ariel, from “The Little Mermaid” (1989). She became a mother in the second film in the franchise, “The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea”, released in 2000, where it is possible to meet Melody, the daughter of the princess and Prince Eric.
In the film, Melody is in love with the sea, and lives the opposite adventure to her mother’s, as she cannot leave the surface to venture into the ocean waters, as Morgana, Ursula’s sister, longs for revenge after the events of the first film.
Still, the girl who cannot imagine what dangers the sea holds, ends up submerging, which causes aquatic and terrestrial creatures to come together to create a reality in which the two different realities can live in harmony.
