What are all the One Piece animated movies?

Discover all 15 animated films that belong to the franchise created by Eiichiro Oda in manga format: One Piece!

The manga “One Piece”, published in 1997 and written by Eiichiro Odais one of the best sellers of all time, as more than 517 million copies of the work have already circulated among the hands of fans of the story that follows a band of pirates, known as Straw Hats, who seek fame, power and riches contained in the largest and most sought after treasure in the world left by the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.

It was so successful that the title ended up being expanded to several other formats, gaining even more lovers around the world, as it received an anime of the same name, shown since 1999 on Japanese TV, as well as a series on Netflix, “One Piece: A Série”, which premiered directly on the streaming platform in August last year, for example.

More than that, the plots that previously only belonged to the pages also gained animated versions in feature films. In total, there are 15 films already released, and among them, there are canonical narratives, that is, based entirely on the manga, and non-canonical ones.

1. One Piece the Movie: The Great Golden Pirate

Released in 2000, “One Piece the Movie: The Great Golden Pirate” was directed by Junji Shimizu. Becoming the first animated film inspired by Oda’s work, the plot follows Luffy, Zoro, Usopp and Nami in search of gold left by the legendary Captain Woonan on a remote island.

2. One Piece: Adventure on Nejimaki Island

A year later, “One Piece: Adventure on Nejimaki Island” was released. The story, which is also directed by Shimizu, follows the Straw Hat crew, in search of their ship, Going Merry, which was stolen by a group of unknown pirates.

3. One Piece: Chopper’s Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals

In 2002, “One Piece: Chopper’s Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals” brought a band of pirates to Crown Island, a place surrounded by intelligent animals, who began to worship Chopper as king after an incident that distanced him from the Straw Hats. .

4. One Piece: Deadly Adventure

“One Piece: Deadly Adventure” premiered in 2003 under the direction of filmmaker Konosuke Uda. The film is available on Netflix with the following synopsis:

5. One Piece: Curse of the Holy Sword

By Kazuhisa Takenouchi, “One Piece: Curse of the Holy Sword” (2004), follows Luffy and his friends on Asuka Island. The story unfolds after Zoro, who was supposed to guard the ship, disappears and the big twist is that he is found helping Navy enemies find the legendary Sword of the Seven Stars, considered the most valuable and powerful sword in the Grand Line.

6. One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island

In “One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island” (2005), the Straw Hats are invited to sail to Omatsuri Island to stay at a mysterious resort. What they didn’t expect was that they would have to participate in strange games proposed by the island’s leader, Baron Omatsuri.

7. One Piece: The Mechas of Karakuri Castle

The seventh One Piece film was released in 2006 in Japan, featuring Luffy and his companions on an intriguing adventure. That’s because, after finding a treasure chest in a sunken ship, they didn’t find any treasure, but rather an old lady with gold teeth.

8. Alabasta Episode: The Desert Princess and the Pirates

Being a summary of the Alabasta arc, the feature film follows the gang helping Princess Vivi save her kingdom after an attack by the criminal organization Boroque Works, dominated by the Shichibukai Crocodile. “Alabasta Episode: The Desert Princess and the Pirates”, was released in 2007 under the direction of Takahiro Imamura.

9. Chopper Plus Episode: Winter Blossom, Cherry Tree Miracle

In 2008, Shimizu brought “Episode Chopper Plus: Winter Blossom, Miracle of the Cherry Tree”, a title that follows the Straw Hats after Nami falls ill, causing them to seek medical attention on Drum Island, where they meet the reindeer doctor Tony Tony Chopper and the Wapol pirates.

The film is available on Netflix.

10. One Piece Movie: Strong World

Also included in the Netflix catalog, “One Piece Movie: Strong World”, was released in 2009 and is directed by Munehisa Sakai.

Synopsis: “The legendary pirate Shiki reappears in East Blue and plans to destroy the World Government. After he kidnaps Nami, the Straw Hats face a strange land.”

11. One Piece 3D: The Straw Hat Chase

“One Piece 3D: The Straw Hat Chase” is the first and only One Piece film to feature 3D CGI animation.

Directed by Hiroyuki Satothe 2011 plot follows the loss of Luffy’s straw hat, causing the gang to face several challenges to find it,

12. One Piece Movie: Z

“One Piece Movie: Z” is the 12th animated feature film in the franchise. The production is signed by Tatsuya Nagamine. On Netflix, the title has the following synopsis:

Luffy and the gang save a disillusioned Navy admiral who has only one goal: to kill all the pirates in the world, including the Straw Hats.”

13. One Piece Movie: Gold

Available on HBO Max and Prime Video for subscribers, and on YouTube, Apple TV and Google Play for purchase and rental, “One Piece Movie: Gold” debuted in 2016.

The synopsis says: “The Straw Hat Pirates face the governor of Gran Tesoro, home to the largest entertainment city in the world, where pirates, marines and millionaires gather in an “absolute sanctuary” governed by their own laws.”

14. One Piece: Stampede

In “One Piece: Stampede”, Luffy and the Straw Hat crew are invited to the biggest pirate event in the world: the Pirate Festival. Here, Luffy and his friends will meet several other pirates on the hunt for the treasure that belonged to Gol D. Roger.

The plot, launched in 2019 under the command of Takashi Otsuka, is available to HBO Max and Prime Video subscribers, and can also be purchased or rented on Apple TV.

15. One Piece Movie: Red

The latest animated film in the franchise, “One Piece Movie: Red” premiered in 2022 with Gorō Taniguchi as director. The story can be followed by Prime Video subscribers or by those who want to buy or rent the film on Apple TV.

The synopsis reads: “Uta, the world’s most beloved singer, whose voice has been described as ‘out of this world’, is known for hiding her own identity when performing. Now, for the first time, she will reveal herself to the world in concert live.”
