Born from a collaboration with the house’s founder and creator, Tamara Ralph, Audemars Piguet’s all-new Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon combines fine watchmaking with femininity.
During Paris Couture Week on January 22nd, during the Tamara Ralph fashion show, the Swiss manufacturer’s latest addition takes on a new aura, more glamorous than ever. Inspired by the aesthetic of the fashion house, which dresses many stars on stage, including Beyoncé, this future collector’s item is dressed all in rose gold and embellished with Frosted Gold. This Florentine jewelry technique was revisited by jewelry designer Carolina Bucci and adapted by Audemars Piguet craftsmen in 2016, giving the watches a shimmering effect similar to precious stones.

Air to femininity
Revealing reflections ranging from brown to gold, the Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon Tamara Ralph Limited Edition perfectly demonstrates the synergy of haute horology and haute couture. But above all, common values for both houses: between craftsmanship, ancestral knowledge and advanced technology, in the initiation of art objects, vectors of emotions. The bet was made with this new piece. the combination of finishes – hammered, brushed and polished surfaces – gives it a unique texture while creating a play of light. For added femininity, a translucent cabochon sapphire completes the hexagonal crown, while the multi-tiered dial echoes the Australian-born designer’s creations.
But be careful. as glamorous as it is, the watch remains true to the values of the Royal Oak Concept family, born in 2002 and then enriched by the collection in 2008, thus becoming a platform for experimentation and innovation. Ultra-technical, it is powered by the hand-wound caliber 2964, whose flying tourbillon, visible at 6 o’clock, reveals the mechanism that beats at its heart. This is not a first for Audemars Piguet and Tamara Ralph. Indeed, the two houses had already created a dialogue between fashion and time, matching several watches to the spring-summer 2021 ready-to-wear collection.
