Reflexos do Medo” that can be visited

“Turma da Mônica Jovem: Reflexos do Medo” arrived today, the 18th, in cinemas, presenting a young version of Brazil’s most beloved characters, surrounded by a story full of mysteries.

That’s because, on the first day of high school, Mônica, Cebola, Magali, Cascão and Milena discover that something is wrong, and everything becomes even stranger when they learn that the Limoeiro Museum will be auctioned. While investigating what is happening, they discover frightening secrets about the Limoeiro neighborhood that involve the centuries-old Order of Cooks.

It is true that the plot is fictional, and the Limoeiro Museum and College do not really exist. But what some may not know is that they can still be visited in the real world! This is because the locations that served to take these places out of the comics and put them on screen are based in the state with the largest population in Brazil: São Paulo!

So much so that, at the film’s press conference, the executive director of Mauricio de Sousa Produções and inspiration for the creation of Dona da Rua, Monica Spada e Sousarevealed that he studied at the school where the recordings were made.

I’m thrilled to be here. I’m thrilled to be on their side here and see myself there in some way. Because this part here is closer to what I remember from my youth, so for me it’s a dream and when I went to see one of the recordings that was at the school where I studied when I was young, guys, it was also a huge emotion. So I think everyone says this, life imitates art. There, art imitates a little of life!”

Jafet Mansion

One of the locations is the Jafet Mansion. According to information published by São Paulo City Hall, the residence was built at the beginning of the 20th century, to accommodate members of the Lebanese family. Japhethwho arrived in Brazil at the end of the 1880s, when Eduardo Benjamin Jafet became the first member to settle in the country.

The Mansion is located in the Ipiranga neighborhood, at the intersection of Rua Bom Pastor and Rua dos Patriotas.

Ipiranga museum

Close to the Jafet Mansion, the Ipiranga Museum can also be seen in the film. Located at Rua dos Patriotas, 100, the public museum, which is the oldest in the city of São Paulo, is the headquarters of the Museu Paulista, specialized in history and material culture, as well as being part of the University of São Paulo.

Notre Dame College

Colégio Notre Dame has existed since February 5, 1942 and, according to the institution’s website, it was the first educational enterprise to be built in São Paulo.

Chácara Jockey Park

Part of the outdoor scenes were recorded at Parque Chácara Jockey, one of the youngest parks in São Paulo, as it was opened to the public in 2016. Located in the Butantã neighborhood, in the west zone of the city of São Paulo, the park has more of 143 thousand square meters (the equivalent of 20 football fields) and has several leisure areas.
