The mysteries of Hawkins must be solved soon! That’s because, the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” is already in development in order to provide an ending to the plot that began in 2016 by presenting Eleven and her friends facing problems when they discover a portal to the Upside Down.

When was the script started?
The production of the story’s final script was announced to fans on August 2, 2023, through an image published on the X (formerly Twitter) profile that belongs to the series’ writers, where a white board with the “ Stranger Things 5” is drawn in red marker, while the caption reveals that the writing process has begun: “Day 1”. Remember!
When did production start?
The final season of the series was confirmed for production on January 8 of this year, with the release of a photo of the cast. In the image published by Neflix, it is possible to see the main sextet formed by: Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Noah Schnapp (Will), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Sadie Sink (Max) and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) gathered alongside supporting actors such as Joe Keery (Steve), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Winona Ryder (Joyce).
How many episodes will there be?
Also through a publication on the writers’ X, a publication may have revealed the number of episodes for the last season. This is because, with the caption: “grid internship”, the post features a photograph of a whiteboard that, without much information, separates eight episodes of the plot using lines crossed out with a marker.
In another tweet, the title of the first chapter of the series’ new year was also revealed: “The Crawl”.
More than that, an excerpt from the script for the first episode of the fifth season had part of the description of the opening scene presented to fans through an image.

Closing the topic, there is a spoiler for the last episode. This is because, in an appearance on the podcast Happy Sad Confused, the co-creator of the series, Ross Duffer revealed the average length of the final episode:
We don’t really like series where the penultimate episode is very strong, and the last one only shows the effects of what happens in the previous one. What we should do is write a 2 1/2 hour final chapter, like we did in Season 4.”
What to expect from the characters?
Will will be the focal point again in the end! As revealed by Ross Duffer to Variety, the character of Noah Schnapp will be responsible for making the series’ arc make sense with the ending.
Will is really central to season five,” said Duffer. “This emotional arc for him is what we feel will tie the whole series together. Will is used to being the youngest, the introvert, the one being protected. So part of his journey is not just sexuality — it’s Will becoming a young man.”
On another occasion, the producer and director of the series, Shawn Levyalso explained to Variety, that, due to the Hollywood actors’ strike, which took place between May and November last year, it will be necessary to use makeup techniques to rejuvenate the cast.
We have already seen the cast of our series grow in the public eye and, between the ages of 12 and 22, every human being changes profoundly. This passage of time is definitely not helping, but that being said, our hair, makeup and wardrobe department is quite exceptional, using costumes, wigs and makeup to combat aging.”

Furthermore, Shawn Levysaid in an interview with Total Film, that the fifth season will be as grand as a film.
It’s a great cinematic narrative that happens to be called a TV series. Stranger Things 5 is as big as any of the biggest movies we see,” he said.
