In an interview, Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS, revealed how he currently feels about his famous nickname “Golden Maknae”
Since the debut of BTSheld in 2013, both fans and members created the habit of referring to Jungkook like “Golden Maknae”, a cute nickname created by RMwhich refers to the enormous skills of the youngest member of the group.
Even 11 years after its debut, the nickname is still used quite frequently by ARMYs. As reported by the Koreaboo portal, when I was younger, JungkookI didn’t tend to use the term much, however, this practice changed as I got older.
During an interview with Apple Music, while promoting his first solo album, “GOLDEN”, the presenter Zane Lowe He commented that the name of the album referred to his famous nickname, and took the opportunity to ask if, after making his debut as a soloist, he no longer felt like the “youngest”.
In your response, Jungkook He stated that being the youngest is something that will never change, and that he sees no problem with still being called maknae.
“Even 20 or 30 years from now, I will always be the youngest, the ‘maknae’. This will never change. And I really don’t dislike being called ‘maknae’,” said the idol.
Jungkook continued his speech revealing that “People have described me as ‘golden maknae’ and while I was working, I was able to see myself grow. I feel like everything was compressed on this album.”
During the conversation, Kookie He also revealed that, as the youngest member, he received some privileges from the older members, who always helped him in different ways.
“I think there was certainly a special privilege in being the youngest, and I had a lot of help in ways that I may or may not have known about. And the members are really nice people. I think I got a lot of good things from them. I had a lot of help from all six of them, and it helped me grow to where I am today.”
