Discover which character from “Wish” had one of its characteristics inspired by Walt Disney’s childhood
The new Walt Disney Animation film is now among us! “Wish: The Power of Desires” opened in Brazilian cinemas this Thursday, 4th, as a tribute to the studio’s 100 years of existence, celebrated on October 16, 2023.
The story is also responsible for introducing the new princess of Mickey’s House: Asha, the main character of the plot, described as a fearless, intelligent and altruistic girl, willing to do everything she can for her family and community. At 17 years old, Asha stands out for her broad leadership skills.
In addition to her, several other characters are presented, such as the Star, a powerful cosmic force capable of granting wishes, the Magnificent king, responsible for ruling the kingdom of Rosas, and also the Teenagers (Dahlia, Gabo, Hal, Simon, Safi, Dario and Bazeema), Asha’s friends and those responsible for helping her when things start to get complicated.
But did you know that one of the characters in the plot is inspired by events in the life of the film producer, filmmaker, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, philanthropist and co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, Walt Disney?
Who is he?
The goat in pajamas full of personality, Valentino is that figure. Confirmation was carried out by the producer Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster Joneswho was part of the studio’s creative development team in 2018, and stated that photos from Walt’s childhood were used to inspire the look of the little animal.
We did a lot of research into our own film library and into Walt Disney himself, asking who he was, what inspired him, what kind of leader he was. We even look at his childhood on the farm in Marceline, Missouri. Some stories suggest that baby farm animals were occasionally dressed up, which inspired our pajama-wearing goat, Valentino.”
It is worth mentioning that Walt was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 5, 1901, but was raised on a farm in Marceline, Missouri. So much so, that it was in the same place that Walt fell in love with drawing, as, as revealed in the Mickey Mouse creator’s biography on the d23 website, he started selling his sketches to neighbors at the age of seven.
