Just like the figures in the story written by Riordan On the pages, the series’ actors are also living the most confusing and revealing period of human existence: adolescence! However, more than that, they have several other similarities, as revealed by the actors themselves in a press conference held on December 4th.
In this ocasion, Walker, Leah It is Aryan they were asked what personal characteristics of theirs could also be found in their characters. In response, Aryan began by pointing out something in common between his co-star and Percy by saying that “Walker is definitely quite rebellious”. Already Walker stated that he shares a sense of humor with the son of Poseidon. “I think Percy’s sense of humor. I also have a lot of that sense of humor.”
About that, Leah highlighted the quality that could be a connection between her and Athena’s daughter: vulnerability:
I’m going to choose Annabeth’s vulnerability. I definitely think that her vulnerability as well, while it brings the focus thing, I believe that I can definitely be focused, but also have a deep sensitivity in myself as well, is something that I pulled from her.”
As for Aryanhe revealed that he likes the empathy that Grover has, revealing that it is one of the characteristics he most admires, as well as being the aspect in which he wants to resemble the character:
About Grover, one of my favorite things while reading about his character in the books is how connected he is to the people he cares about, which is a trait I really admire about him, and something I really want to get of the character and put as much into the story as I can.”
At another point in the press conference, the actors also answered the question that wanted to clarify how much of what fans will see on screen is fictional and how much is the personality of each of the actors. In response, everyone stated that there was a mix between reality and fiction.
I took this character and mixed it. When I say mixed, I mean I made sure that I still had Annabeth, but also giving my self, and I think that made a lot of difference”, began Leah explaining. “Being ourselves while we were recording, I think that’s what made the chemistry really good between us while playing these roles, but still giving Annabeth, Percy and Grover at the same time.”
“I kind of agree with that. I don’t think I did, actually, we all kind of did in a way, but I think it was more for the show, we tried to get a little more of a spin on real life, you know, so, I think it’s extremely It’s important to remember that he’s still a 12-year-old child, and so he can kind of release tension sometimes, get angry, it’s much more of an emotional journey,” he added. Walker.
Finally, Aryan highlighted the growth trajectory as something that connects the actors to their characters:
I completely agree. We all kind of brought ourselves to the characters. What I really like about Grover is that he always starts out kind of… he’s kind of weird, a little cowardly, but you can still see that he’s always willing to put himself in front of his friends, and kind of like Walker. Said, the journey that we all go through, Grover kind of comes out of his shell a little more and is more willing to put himself in front of danger and protect the people he cares about.”
