DESCRIPTION – Does caring for others mean anything to you? This vital ability, however, seems to be disappearing. Some ideas for caring, listening, and reconnecting with the art of (real) conversation.
It’s a Paris Metro train like any other at rush hour. On the side pews sat the youths, in the central bay, shivering among the bumps, an old gentleman. Or a pregnant woman. Or a “straight” person who looks exhausted with their shopping bags in hand… Are these guys and girls who don’t move to give way to their seats monsters, or more simply, “worthy” representatives of the growing incivility known? Called to order, they complied, apologizing immediately. Like many others, they were engrossed in their smartphone, playing or scrolling as if locked in their own little bubble, deaf and blind. The same observation on the train, where most of the telephone shouts obediently obey on the platform, when we open their eyes – their ears? – the fact that they are bothering forty-five people with the story of their customer meeting triumphant … It seems that public transport. …
