1. The first appearance occurred over eighty years ago

The Justice Society of America emerged in the Golden Age of Comics, making its first appearance in ‘All Star Comics #3’, published in November 1940, by All-American Publications (a company that later merged with DC).

In its debut, the story featured names like Mr. Fate and Hawkman to make up the diverse lineup of superheroes, which consisted of members from various generations with different levels of experience and powers.

2. They were reinserted into the DC universe on an alternate Earth

Starting the sequence of ups and downs, the comic was canceled in its issue #57 in 1951, due to the decline of public interest in superhero comics, causing the team to be left out of the DC universe for more than a year. decade, being reintroduced in the magazine “Flash de Dois Mundos”, launched in the 60s.

3. The origin story took almost forty years to emerge

Despite having been presented in the 40s, the origin of the Justice Society remained a great mystery until 1977, as it was in the comic book ‘The Untold Origin of the Justice Society’ that an initial trajectory was given to the group of heroes. .

According to the comics, it all started in World War II, where the president Roosevelt tasked Flash and Green Lantern with taking out Hitler of power and recover an artifact called the Spear of Destiny.

With the mission given, the two joined Doctor Fate, Atom, Hourman, Specter and Hawkman, thus forming the already known team.

4. The magazine marked Wonder Woman’s debut on the pages

Just a year after the first appearance of the Justice Society in comics, Diana Prince, also known as Wonder Woman, was introduced as the first woman to join the select group of superheroes.

However, despite the great achievement and the fact that Diana was a princess with powerful abilities, ‘All-Star Comics #8’ decided that, initially, she would just be the group’s secretary. A fact that changed when Wonder Woman from Earth-2 joined the action, so her Earth-1 version could grow up to become one of DC’s greatest heroes.

It is also worth remembering that Batman and Superman also joined the Justice Society as honorary members before becoming members of the Justice League alongside Wonder Woman.

5. Crossover with the Justice League

Still, the precursors of the Justice League could not have their trajectory complete without a crossover with the team that is made up of the most illustrious heroes from the publisher’s comics — and this happened shortly after the reintroduction of the Justice Society into the DC universe.

The event first occurred in ‘Justice League Of America #21-22’ where teams came together to save Earth-1 and Earth-2 in 1963. The publication received great approval, as it was repeated annually until 1985.
