FIFTY FIFTY Case
The legal battle between the members of FIFTY FIFTY and the company ATTRAKT, responsible for forming the group, began in June this year, after the South Korean agency accused Warner Music Korea of trying to convince the members to break their exclusive contracts.
On the 28th of the same month, Aran,Keena, SaenaIt is Zion filed a court request to suspend the contracts. In July, there was an attempt at mediation between the girl group and the agency, which did not reach an agreement, causing the trial process to be resumed.
In August, the request presented by the four members was denied by the Seoul Central District Court, and they soon appealed the decision. Shortly afterwards, in October, Keena decided to cancel the appeal and maintain their contract with ATTRAKT, while the other members continued the legal battle.
The South Korean press reported that, on October 19, exclusive contracts for Saena, Zion It is Aran with the company were definitively terminated. Through a statement released by news outlets (via Soompi), the agency said:
“We have notified Saena, Sio and Aran — the remaining members of our agency’s girl group FIFTY FIFTY, excluding Keena — of the termination of their exclusive contracts effective October 19th.
We have taken action in response to the three FIFTY FIFTY members’ lack of corrective action or reflection on their serious contractual violations. We will discuss follow-up measures against the members in the future.”
