The agency responsible for managing the career of V, from BTS, spoke for the first time about the case of persecution against the star
BIGHIT MUSIC spoke out for the first time about the arrest of a woman accused of stalking V, member of BTS. The note was published last Thursday, the 26th, and said: “We are responding with a policy of no tolerance to crimes of stalking that disrupt our artist’s personal life and threaten their safety” (via Soompi).
The case happened earlier, on the same day that the company spoke out. According to the Soompi portal, a woman, around 20 years old, followed V to the elevator of the building where he lives and tried to talk to the idol. Furthermore, according to a report from KBS, a South Korean television station, the stalker even gave the star a marriage certificate.
Apparently, she was waiting for V outside the building, and then followed him inside as he drove his car into the construction parking lot.
Stalkers in South Korea
There are several situations involving the most obsessive K-pop fans, known as sasaengs, reported in the South Korean media. The cases range from discovering idols’ personal information to physical persecution.
In October last year, a new anti-stalking law came into force in South Korea, with the aim of preventing these criminal situations from evolving into a more serious case. The legislation, which recognizes that more than one target may be involved in the case, includes acts committed against family members, friends or neighbors of the victim in question.
