THE CREATION OF “SEOTAIJI & BOYS”

It all started due to the talent of Yang Hyunsuk. The artist, who is also known for founding YG entertainment and creating iconic groups like BIGBANG and BLACKPINK, was very skilled at dancing, which made him Seo Tai-ji approached him with a special request.

The two met at a nightclub when Seo Tai-ji approached Yang Hyunsuk asking him not only to tell him what he needed to dance, but also to actually be his teacher, teaching him the art of making rhythmic movements with his body, as explained by the Koreaboo portal.

The request was accepted, but with one condition: Yang Hyunsuk asked for three advance payments worth ₩1.50 million KRW (about RS5,739.00) each. Surprising, Seo Taiji accepted and transferred over ₩4.50 million KRW (about RS 17,217.00), as proof that he really wanted to learn.

However, the journey was not easy. From start, Seo Taijifilmed the movements of Yang to be able to reproduce them and make his learning faster, but all the movements were memorized in reverse, as he practiced them using mirrored videos.

More than that, Yang Hyunsuk was called up for mandatory military service in South Korea before teaching Seo Taijiwhich almost led the singer to almost leave his desire to learn to dance behind, but before he gave up, Yang He was discharged from the army due to a heart problem, which led to them reuniting again.

In season, Seo Taiji He was already preparing his solo album, and the song “I Know” would be chosen to promote his new work. That way, Yang suggested that the track be accompanied by a dance and fashion identity that would stand out among the musical products already launched, even suggesting that professional dancers accompany the artist.

That way, Taiji has invited Yang to join your team. One month before the premiere, Yang made it Lee Juno was included in the group, as they had promised each other that they would debut together one day. In fact, having been added to the group at the last minute, Lee Juno does not have his voice included on Seo Taiji and Boys’ debut album.
