While walking near the royal residence of Balmoral, a group of cyclists met King Charles III. A meeting filmed and broadcast on social networks, which has become particularly viral.
A royal surprise. A group of British cyclists had a completely unexpected encounter while riding in Scotland, His Majesty King Charles III of England. He actually stepped out into the fresh air for a walk alone in the grounds of his holiday home in Balmoral, Scotland. The 74-year-old monarch wore a flat top hat and khaki coat for the occasion, along with his trusty walking cane.
The sovereign engaged in conversation with his subjects, who asked him if he was “on summer vacation at Balmoral.” Charles replied. “Yes. It’s wonderful here.” The king, however, admitted that the many flies present made him somewhat angry. Then the group of athletes asked the king about his solo concert. “But I like to walk. I want to see a lot on the way down,” he explains with a laugh.
The trio then explained to her that they were planning to go to Gelder Shil Bot, a shelter that is free to the public. Charles revealed some of his childhood memories of the place, including nights camping with his late father Prince Philip and sister Princess Anne; “We were in the camp when I was very small, with my father and sister (… ). We use it today for a picnic or a barbecue.” At the end of the video, the riders thank their king, who politely replies: “Be careful not to fall.”
These GoPro images were shared on the McTrail Rider YouTube channel on September 18. To date, it has garnered nearly two million views. “We were driving past Balmoral Estate and there were lots of Range Rovers and armed guards, but we didn’t really expect to see or speak to the King as we did,” it said.
