The leader of the Rolling Stones who spoke in the columns Wall Street Journal On September 26, he wants to distribute his inheritance more fairly.

They are warned. the father will bequeath them part of his personal inheritance, but not his catalog, i.e. his music rights. “My kids don’t need $500 million to live on,” Mick Jagger explained in a Sept. 26 Wall Street Journal column. The 80-year-old singer told Rolling Stone that he would prefer to donate his work to charity. With a new album out, their first in eighteen years, the cult band will no doubt be bringing in royalties for a long time to come, and this donation, he says, will “do a little bit of good in the world”.

Then what will be left for his children? As reported Wall Street Journal, the singer alone has a fortune of more than 300 million dollars. Mick Jagger, who has been in a 10-year relationship with dancer Melanie Hamrick, who is 43 years his junior, owns several prestigious properties. Count his apartments in London and New York, his villa on Mustique Island and his castle in Tours.

An inheritance to be divided among his eight children by five different wives. Indeed, Mick Jagger had his first daughter, Karis (age 52), with American actress Marsha Hunt in 1970. A year after this birth, he became a father for the second time, welcoming Jade (age 51), a fetus. his marriage to Bianca Jagger. The family will be joined by Elizabeth (39), James (38), Georgia May (31) and Gabrielle (25), all from her romance with model Jerry Hall. Finally, Lucas (age 24), born from an affair with Brazilian model Luciana Jimenez, and Devereaux (age 6), his latest son with current partner Melanie Hamrick. Thus, the eight children will receive more than 30 million after the death of the artist.

Catalog sales

Mick Jagger also revealed that some of his cult songs are not his own. “The industry was so nascent that it didn’t have the support and the number of people who could advise you today,” he explained. In fact, the rights to certain pieces were locked away by their former manager and accountant, Allen Klein, between 1965 and 1970.

The Rolling Stones could sell the rest of their catalog for huge sums, like many singers like Katy Perry (225 million) or Bruce Springsteen (500 million). “I don’t know if we’re ready,” Keith Richards, the band’s iconic guitarist, told CBS last year. We could have made it a little longer, put a few extra things in it. The only problem with selling your catalog is that you are showing signs of aging.”

While we wait to hear more, the Rolling Stones will be releasing their new album on October 20th Hackney Diamonds the first in eighteen years.
