The film will tell the story of the rescue of people from the occupied territories, which was taken by a volunteer – a citizen of Kazakhstan.

Filming of the feature film Butch, directed by Stanislav Tiunov, based on true events, has been completed.

In particular, the tragedy that occurred in a town near Kyiv shook the whole world and forced it to open its eyes to the terrible actions of the Russian army. Therefore, without staying on the sidelines, the Ukrainian filmmakers decided to talk about the events in the city of Bucha.

It is known that the filming took place in the Kyiv region in March and April 2022 and lasted 28 days of shooting, and the last shots were taken in August of this year on Mount Goverla.

However, before the filming process could begin, the team needed about six months to finalize agreements with private foreign investment and finalize the script, which had been in the works for about a year. The process of obtaining permission from the relatives of the victims of the tragedy and participants in those events also took some time.

It is worth noting that the plot of the film will tell about the rescue of local residents by Konstantin Gudauskas, a citizen of Kazakhstan who received political asylum in Ukraine and settled in Bucha. At the beginning of the Russian invasion, thanks to his Kazakh passport, he was able to travel through the territory occupied by Russian troops and evacuate civilians. Konstantin not only saved people, but also saw with his own eyes the horrors of war and work – murder, robbery, rape.

According to the film’s scriptwriter and producer, Alexander Shchur, the film team has two goals: the first is to counter Russian propaganda, and the second is to honor the memory of the victims.

“Cinema is one of the most powerful tools for conveying messages to the world. If someone thinks that everyone in Europe and the United States knows exactly what happened here and just believe us , then, unfortunately, he is deeply mistaken. The Russians have already filmed and “Azovstal propaganda films are shown. Liberation and Witness with their version of events in Mariupol and Bucha. There is a possibility that the world will see enough Russian films and accept their narratives. We must deliver the truth!” – he noted.

According to the filmmakers, the film will premiere in the fall of 2024.
