popular scene from the film should be changed in the series

The newest adaptation of the Percy Jackson universe should be more faithful to Rick Riordan’s books and change a scene from the film that was loved by fans

This Tuesday, the 19th, Disney+ released an unprecedented teaser for the series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”. The production, which will star Walker Scobellis based on the first book in the saga written by Rick Riordan. The first two episodes of the series will be available on the platform from December 20th. Watch the teaser!

However, this is not the first adaptation of the story of Riordan. In 2010, FOX released a feature film telling the adventures of the book “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief”, but made many changes to the plot, such as the age of the main characters and the order of events, not to mention that some moments were left out. of the movie. Such changes did not please fans of the books at all, not even the author himself, who did not act behind the scenes of the production.

But there is a scene in the film that stood out and has a high chance of being completely different in the series. This is because the series produced by Disney promises to be much more faithful to the books, featuring actors the same age as the characters and the script more similar to the story. This time, Riordan actively participated in the process of both the script and the choice of performers.

The moment in question is when Percy, Annabeth and Grover end up going to the Lotus Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. This scene is one of the great events of the first book. In the film, the protagonists go to the place in search of a pearl and they end up consuming lotus flowers and, consequently, entering a trance, which causes them to lose track of time, something that could cause them to be trapped there for a long time. ever. Remember the scene!

As the series intends to follow the manuscripts of Riordan, this moment in Las Vegas should be more like what fans read about in the books. In the work, the scene is more anticlimactic, since the main trio only stops at the hotel to rest during their visit to the city.

Afterwards, they receive a nice suite and end up checking out the gambling games in the region, even against Percy’s intuition, which said that something was wrong in that situation. After a while, Percy realizes that the space houses young people from all eras and discovers that the hotel distorts time and ends up coming out of a trance.

Therefore, the Disney+ series will leave out the fun of young people in the casino, as seen in the 2010 film. But the moment will certainly be present in the production, since it is possible to see an excerpt in the teaser, where it appears that the young people are in Las Vegas.
