Lucasfilm Boss Says Star Wars “Will Go On Forever”

Kathleen Kennedy defends the productions derived from the stories created by George Lucas

Without end? Star Wars Celebration is promoting to fans of the saga several news, spoilers and revelations, and among them, the president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy revealed that the intention is for the franchise to get bigger and bigger and never end, in an interview with Variety.

Kennedybegan by explaining the motivation behind the new spinoff productions: “Right now, we’re continuing to expand from the mythology of ‘The Mandalorian’. ‘Ahsoka’ will be the next step of that, and then the series that Jon Watts Is doing. These projects give us different places in the story timeline that we can look at, within this persistent Star Wars story.”

Therefore, the president defends that the stories should be part of the vast Star Wars universe, connected to an even bigger story. “We’re always thinking about what each project means in the larger mythology started by George Lucas. It can go on forever, to be honest. With good storytellers, it will go on forever,” she said.

The productions mentioned by Kennedyalready have a release date, since “Andor”, starring Diego Luna, should arrive later this year, while the third season of “The Mandalorian”, the first season of “Ahsoka” and the emergence of “Skeleton Crew”, a project carried out by Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Coming Home) for the saga should debut in 2023.

In addition, there is also “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, a series that premiered today, 27, on the streaming platform Disney+, where it follows the new stories experienced by the famous Jedi Master after the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’ (2005).
