Find out which are the famous, soap operas and Latin heroes who won a space in ‘Besouro Azul’
In addition to references to DC comics, ‘Blue Beetle’, a film that hit theaters last Thursday, 17th, to present Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes, the new hero of the DCEU came with numerous allusions to Latin culture and productions.
Thinking about it, RECREIO separated below a list with those that you cannot fail to notice in the production. Check out!
1. Maria do Bairro
As one of the most popular Mexican soap operas of all time, “Maria do Bairro” (1995) is mentioned in several ways during the more than two hours of Angel Manuel Soto’s feature film.
This happens through the exhibition of scenes from the plot starring the singer and actress. Thalíawhile Jaime’s grandmother watches TV, or even when the hero’s family sings the soap opera’s theme song.
There is also a parallel drawn by Jaime’s sister between the story of the poor girl who becomes a member of the family of millionaire Fernando de la Vega (Fernando Colunga) and the protagonist’s relationship with Jenny Kord (Bruna Marquezine).
2. Chapolin Colorado
More than a reference to the clumsy hero played by Roberto Gomez BolanosChapolin Colorado appears as the name of a contraption created by Uncle Rudy (George Lopez) responsible for invading the security system of the company Kord and helping Jaime and Jenny to enter the place, since with the object, the images of the duo are replaced by scenes of a stop motion animation starring the holder of the bionic sledgehammer that has small antennae vinyl.
3. Selena
Going to the film’s soundtrack, one of the most idolized names in the Latino community could not fail to be included: Selena Quintanilla. The singer has the song “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom”, inserted in one of the moments of the film. Remember the song.
4. Becky G
Perhaps this is the hardest to notice! In the plot, the alien intelligence Khaji-Da, receives the voice of no one else, no one less, than Becky G. The singer of Mexican descent plays the character in the original dub version of the film.
5. Maria Mercedes
In addition to Maria do Bairro, another telenovela starring Thalía appears: Maria Mercedes. The character is mentioned at the moment when there is a comparison between the character’s story and that of Jaime, since the two come from humble origins and fall in love with people with a high standard of living.
