Good or bad, these productions explore different sides of the mythology that surrounds mermaids
The mythology behind mermaids is one of the most curious of all time! The half-human, half-fish being that inhabits the depths of the ocean has already gained different versions and interpretations in books, animations, series and films over the years, one of the most recent being the live-action of “The Little Mermaid”, film from Disney that adapts the short story of the same name by the writer Hans Christian Andersen for movie theaters. Remember the trailer!
Even so, there are other works that bring these thought-provoking creatures into their plots, whether they are protagonists or not. With that in mind, RECREIO put together a list of five more productions where mermaids can be found. Look!
1. Aquamarine
Who never wanted to meet a mermaid? In “Aquamarine”, a film released in 2006, two friends end up fulfilling the will of many after discovering a mermaid in the pool of the club they used to attend, after the girl with the tail was dragged there during a strong storm. But returning to the sea ends up becoming a second plan, as Aquamarine falls in love with the local lifeguard and will depend on the help of her two new friends to win him over.
2. H20: Mermaid Girls

Normal girls one day, mermaids the next! This is what happened to Emma, Cleo and Rikki in the three-season series “H20: Mermaid Girls”. With the first episode aired in 2006, the plot accompanies the three teenagers who, after being trapped in a cave on a mysterious island, need to swim through a pool at full moon, which causes them to become mermaids with magical powers. Even though it’s amazing, the girls go to great lengths to keep their new little secret.
3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Mermaids are not always good, as proof J.K. Rowling in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (2005). In the fourth film of the saga, Harry is banned from competing in the Quidditch World Cup due to his young age, which makes him discover another competition: the Triwizard Tournament – and that’s where the mermaids come into action. That’s because one of the tests is to unravel the message of these creatures, so that Harry can rescue Ron. The problem is that here the mermaids are dangerous and make Harry suffer a lot until he completes the challenge.
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Launched in 2011, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” features mermaids as the fountain of youth. That’s because, who wanted to stay young longer, would have to capture one of these mystical creatures and harvest a tear from it.
The film is available on Disney+ with the following synopsis:
“When Jack and a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz) cross paths, he’s not sure if it’s love or if she’s a ruthless imposter who’s using him to find the mythological Fountain of Youth. On the ship of the most feared pirate of all time, Jack doesn’t know which is more dangerous: Blackbeard (Ian McShane) or the woman from his past. Directed by Rob Marshall, this adventure is packed with action, mystery and characters. shrewd.”.
5. The 13th anniversary

Normally, birthdays are happy times, but for Cody, celebrating his 13th birthday was a bit nerve-wracking. Upon turning thirteen, the boy gains scales and fins, in addition to noticing that now he no longer loses his breath underwater and that he has a new ability: being able to talk to fish!
the movie of disney was launched in 1999 bringing Chez Starbuck as the interpreter of the mermaid boy who must face some adventures to discover more about his past.
