Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson performed a calculation that reveals the true location of Barbie’s universe
The new live-action Barbie, starring Margot Robbie, was responsible for introducing the public to Barbieland, where all Barbies live. But after all, have you ever wondered where Barbieland is located?
Last week, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, decided to answer the question through a real calculation, which could reveal the true location of the dreamed world. Via Twitter, he said:
“In the movie Barbie, the orientation of the moon puts Barbieland between 20 and 40 degrees North on Earth’s latitude. The palm trees constrain the latitude to between 20 and 30 degrees. The sun and moon rise and set in the ocean. If it’s in the US, Barbieland is somewhere in the Florida Keys.”
in @BarbieTheMovie, the Moon’s orientation places Barbie World between 20 & 40 deg North Latitude on Earth. Palm trees further constrain latitude between 20 & 30 deg. The Sun & Moon rose & set over the ocean. If it’s in the US, Barbie World lands somewhere in the Florida Keys. pic.twitter.com/Vh05tiqraX

So far, “Barbie” has already accumulated more than R$ 1.18 million at the worldwide box office, being the second highest in 2023. Directed by Greta Gerwig, the film accompanies the most famous doll in the world having an existential crisis, which makes her leave Barbieland and go to the real world in search of discovering who she really is. Remember the trailer!
For now, there is still no prediction of how much production will reach digital platforms.
