In its opening weekend, the film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling surpassed the blockbuster Super Mario Bros. opening weekend, making Barbie the highest-grossing film of 2023 to date.
Distributor for Warner Bros. it was reported that the film grossed $337 million worldwide in its opening weekend.
Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan’s new Oppenheimer film, also released on Friday, July 21, earned $174.2 million, according to Universal Pictures.
It is noted that in three days of rental Oppenheimer had a better payment than other Christopher Nolan blockbusters – Interstellar, military thriller Dunkirk and sci-fi thriller Inception.
