Learn the origin story of Marcus, one of the leaders of the Volturi clan from ‘Twilight’
Being one of the leaders of the Volturi clan, the royalty of the vampire universe in “Twilight”, Marcus became immortal around the year 1370 BC, being transformed by Aro where, together, they formed the clan that would be one of the most powerful in the franchise.
From then on, Marcus began to invest in Aro’s plans for world domination, but without much enthusiasm. With the arrival of Caius, the trio was able to defeat the Romanian clan, marking the moment in which the Volturi gain enormous power among the vampires in the franchise.
However, his life within the clan was far from perfect. After Aro turns her sister, Didyme, into an immortal, Marcus falls deeply in love with her as soon as they meet. The woman’s gift of making those around her feel happy with her presence was essential to the great leader’s plans – but it also caused problems within the group.
Didyme’s power made Marcus depend on her more than Aro realized over the centuries. The involvement between the two left the leader extremely worried, believing that the couple no longer cared about his plans for the clan, and decided to take action before he was betrayed.
According to the website ScreenRant, thanks to his power to read minds, he discovered that his boyfriends were planning to leave him so that they could live happily elsewhere. That way, without Marcus knowing it, Aro kills his own sister, so that his friend can remain faithful to the clan.
The leader never told his colleague the truth and, for years, helped him look for Didyme’s “killer” to cover up his crime. Despite remaining in the clan and helping Aro in all his plans, Marcus no longer had the same ambitions as when he was next to his beloved, and starts to live his unhappy eternity.
