SpongeBob and Patrick spotted outside of Bikini Bottom — and it’s no joke
Have you ever thought about finding the real versions of SpongeBob and Patrick? Scientists at the US Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) found the SpongeBob and Patrick of the Atlantic Ocean. Less than 400 km away from New York, a yellow sponge and a pink star, which are the features that resemble the characters in the cartoon, were seen together during an expedition and the moment was recorded.
In his social networks, the biologist Christopher Mah posted the surprise meeting and revealed that he does not usually compare reality with series and movies, but that this time he had to admit that they were “SpongeBob and Patrick in real life”.
Mah said that it is curious that the two creatures are similar in color to those chosen for the animated series, and that it is not so common to find.
The professional, who is also a researcher for NOAA and the National Museum of Natural History of the United States, commented that the friendship between species is not as beautiful as that of the characters in the drawing, because in another post, he published the image of a star sea urchins eating a sponge.
The expedition that took images of the unprecedented encounter aimed to look for deep ocean regions and little known on the east coast of the USA. The teams of scientists worked by observing some parts of the seabed for the first time, between depths of 250,000 to 4,000 meters. Bob and Patrick met at a depth of 2,000 meters.
Being one of the most famous series in the world, “Bob Sponge” shows the adventures of Bob Sponge Square Pants, with his best friend Patrick Estrela, his bad-tempered neighbor Squidward and his friend Sandy the squirrel. In addition to showing his coexistence with his snail pet Gary and his work at Krusty Krab, being a specialist in making the famous Krabby Patty.
