5 great tips featured in ‘Ned’s School Survival Guide’

The advice presented in ‘Ned’s School Survival Guide’ can be carried with you for a lifetime; find it out!

Released in 2004, “Ned’s School Survival Guide” features Ned Bigby (Devon Werkheiser) a typical teenager who needs to face the challenges of this new phase of life, but who decides to do it in a different way: gathering his school experiences in a manual full of tips on how to resist the confusing years in high school.

In addition to Ned, the Nickelodeon sitcom created by Scott Fellows also featured the two best friends of the protagonist, Cookie (Daniel Curtis Lee) and Moze (Lindsey Shaw), who in the three seasons of the production that came to an end in 2007, helped the boy in his adventures against bullies, teachers, classmates and much more.

In all, there were 54 episodes full of lessons that, while bringing fun, helped — and a lot — the young people who watched the series while it was shown. With that in mind, RECREIO has gathered below 5 great tips presented in ‘Ned’s School Survival Manual’ for you to remember. Check out!

1. Learn from your mistakes

It’s common to have failures, but the way you deal with them is what matters! In the series, Ned explains that it is necessary to take mistakes as a form of learning and always be willing to improve what others point out as not correct in you.

This is because, wanting not to repeat the action that upset someone, makes problems easier to solve, which makes friendships easier to maintain, in addition to making the situation much lighter.

2. Things Aren’t As Bad As You Think

Tests and presentations are truly some of the most tense moments of high school and can cause some to lose their minds. In these situations, it is important to “zoom out”, that is, to try to see that period more objectively. It helps to realize that the problem is not that big of a deal, despite the panicked brain making it seem like a hopeless situation.

3. Friends are more important than popularity

The feeling of belonging is something everyone wants, and in high school, being the most popular person in school, or hanging out with the person everyone wants to be friends with, is the way to get that feeling.

However, Ned teaches that what really matters is having a good group of friends, since that way, the people who are really important to you will be by your side and nothing around will matter.

4. Don’t take things too seriously

Tripped over your own shoelace and everyone laughed? Laugh together! Ned says that embarrassing situations happen to everyone all the time and everywhere, so it’s important to know how to act when they arise so that the moment of tension ends quickly and does not become a reason to be remembered.

5. Don’t place high expectations on social situations

Going to parties or attending events can cause stress or anxiety in some. To avoid these feelings, Ned reveals that it is necessary to lower expectations, as idealizing something can easily lead to disappointment and spoil the fun – which is the most important thing in maintaining yourself in these social situations.
