The title track of Yena’s newest comeback is a collaboration with (G)I-DLE’s Yuqi
She’s back! This Tuesday, the 27th, the soloist choi yena made her newest comeback with the second single album “HATE XX”, which arrived accompanied by a super fun clip and full of references to the singer Olivia Rodrigo for the title track “Hate Rodrigo”, in collaboration with Yuqimember of (G)I-DLE.
The track talks about a cute jealousy that, despite denying this feeling as much as possible, it ends up being recognized in the end, also understanding that, in fact, everything is just a great admiration. Watch the clip above!
During a press conference held before the release of the new album, Yena revealed that he decided to call Yuqi to participate in her music, because, in addition to being friends, the two have a very similar musical style.
“We met at ISAC [Idol Star Athletics Championship]. A lot of my and Yuqi’s fans said that we looked alike, so when we met we talked about it and it clicked instantly. Our musical style and preferences are very similar, so I thought it would be perfect if we could work together!” said Yena.
In addition, the soloist also revealed that the collaboration ended up working out, as the composer of “Hate Rodrigo” is the same as “Queencard”, the latest hit by (G)I-DLE.
“Our musical style, our personality and all those things [combinam]! The composer of my new song ‘Hate Rodrigo’ wrote (G)I-DLE’s ‘Queencard’, and that’s how I ended up working with Yuqi this time!”
choi yenapopularly known as YENAdebuted in the Korean music industry through IZ*ONE, a 12-member group formed in 2018 through the reality show Produce 48. The lineup announced their official disbandment in April 2021.
