Between the many moves, the coronavirus pandemic and Tom Cruise’s sermons, the filming Mission: Impossible 7felt like a nightmare at times. Three years later, the latest opus will finally hit theaters on July 12. And one thing is certain: the sensations will be there.

In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part 1In the seventh installment of the saga, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission to date; hunt down a terrifying new weapon before it falls into the wrong hands and threatens all of humanity. Zero padding

In this new opus, true to his reputation, Tom Cruise has not called in any understudy for stunts. That’s what we discover in a teaser posted online this Thursday, June 15, that reveals the behind-the-scenes of the chase in Rome.

A police car, an out-of-control Fiat 500, a motorcycle… the 60-year-old actor did all the action scenes without special effects. And that, despite the traffic and the narrowness of the streets, which did not put him in trouble. Indeed, “cobblestones make driving unpredictable,” says Christopher McQuarrie, the film’s director and producer. “We managed to shoot this amazing sequence. (…) The result is brilliant. Without this team and an actor like Tom, it would be impossible.”

Handcuffed to his co-star Hayley Atwell, Tom Cruise was even forced to drive with one hand “for real” and “no cheating”, claims stunt coordinator Wade Eastwood. “Tom, who rushed through the streets of Rome with one arm, I will never forget him,” commented Hayley Atwell, who portrays Grace in the film. Waiting more than a month to see the result on the big screen.
