Take part in an exclusive visit to Madame Figaro-Arles Alessandro Mosalini
Madame Figaro and Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles offer magazine readers a special tour of the festival’s heart.
Accompanied by a guide, visitors will wander among the photographs of the nominees for the Madame Figaro-Rencontres d’Arles photography prize.
Since 1970, the Rencontres Photographiques d’Arles has promoted artistic creation by showcasing famous photographers and up-and-coming photographers. The festival, which will be held from July 3 to September 24 under the direction of Christoph Wiesner, gives an important place to women’s photography. Nothing could be more logical than Madame Figaro joining the event since 2016 to offer a prize that will honor a photographer whose work represents excellence, originality and a vision of the world.
A journey through candidate exhibitions
They are eight candidates, eight profiles from different countries, selected to compete for the award. Hailing from India, Finland, Poland, Mexico or Iran… the eight artists in the running all have one thing in common: they embody contemporary photography.
Representations of all forms of femininity, the condemnation of patriarchy in the family sphere or the consequences of post-colonialism in society, so many themes addressed in the exhibitions of the eight candidates presented in Arles. Their work is a tangible representation of the current issues that flow through the art world.
